New Families Information - changes are in BLUE
A very big welcome to our children and families who will be joining Lanesend Primary School Reception classes in September. Thank you so much for choosing us as your school, we are very pleased you are joining our family. We are so excited about meeting you again, or for the first time if you have not visited our lovely school yet.
Due to the current uncertain circumstances, our transition programme has been adapted and will continue to evolve to ensure every child receives a personal and extensive transition and that they feel secure and happy starting school. Here is how our transition programme currently looks:
Welcome Pack - Towards the end of April, you will receive a welcome pack from us in the post with lots of information and forms to fill in. Please read the pack and complete the forms. You can return them to Lanesend marked, FAO: Tara Hopkinson, or keep them to return to us when school reopens.
Class Dojo - You will also receive an email to be added to Class Dojo, which is a free app to message staff and see what goes on at Lanesend. We will be posting regular updates on this and you can private message us, so it would really help us if you connect to it. If your email address has changed since you completed your child’s application, please email firstname.lastname@example.org to share the correct email address with us.
Home Visits - Unfortunately, we are unable to offer a traditional home visit due to current conditions. However, we are happy to offer a socially distanced home visit in your garden (weather permitting), or a 15 minute virtual Go to Meeting conversation. These will take place in the weeks of the 29th June and 6th July 2020. A Survey Monkey has been emailed to you to complete to book these. If you would prefer not to have either of these, we may be able to offer a home visit in early September, but cannot guarantee this.
Family Meeting – This will take place online via Go to Meeting on Wednesday 8th July at 6.30pm. A link will be emailed to you to access this and a PowerPoint will be available on the website to support this.
Transition Days – We have re-planned our transition days for children to attend for two consecutive days from 9.00am – 2.00pm, with the cohort split in half. The dates will be either:
Monday 13th July and Tuesday 14th July - 9.00am - 2.00pm
Thursday 16th July and Friday 17th July - 9.00am-2.00pm
We will email to let you know which session your child has been allocated. Families will be allowed into the playground to drop off and collect at an appropriate social distance, but will not be able to enter the school building. The school will have a thorough clean on Wednesday between sessions. Children will need to bring packed lunches and water bottles.
If you have any further questions or need more information, please email Tara Hopkinson, Early Years and Year One Lead, at email@example.com and we will get back to you as soon as possible.
