I am a year 3 teacher, in my second year of teaching, loving the variety and excitement that the role brings everyday. At university, I completed my degree in History and this is still one of my favourite subjects to teach, encouraging the children to investigate and question. I really enjoy the variety that our whole school topics offer, and love planning and teaching the curriculum through these. My favourite topic so far has been Harry Potter and I am a very proud member of Gryffindor house!
I have two primary school aged children, who both attend Lanesend, so I get to enjoy school life as a parent as well as a teacher. Prior to becoming a teacher, I worked here at Lanesend as a Learning Support Assistant, a role which I really loved. I also spent many years in retail and financial management, so speak truthfully when I tell the children just how important maths is in life! I trained to become a teacher because I absolutely love learning, and wanted to share that enthusiasm with the children. I am so proud that I get to do that everyday, in such a supportive and positive school, as part of a team who really care about what they do. I love working in such a bright, cheerful environment and feel very privileged to be able to offer the children the amazing opportunities that we do, such as our recent trip to see Wicked at the Mayflower.
I am keen runner, and can often be found at parkrun or junior parkrun at the weekend, running or volunteering. Running has taught me to challenge myself beyond what I know I can do, and this is an ethos I share with my class!
