Gemma Hinkley

Year 1 Teacher
email me here

This is my first year at Lanesend Primary and I feel very lucky to have been given the opportunity to join such a friendly and unique team. Before joining Lanesend I worked for 16 years at another island primary school.

Since the age of five I was determined I wanted to be a teacher and 17 years later here I am doing my dream job and loving every day. I completed my teaching degree at St Mark and St John’s in Plymouth and was privileged enough to undertake teaching placements in Devon, Cornwall and Jersey teaching from  Nursery to Year 4.

I am a mum to two children and my valuable time is spent with them at swimming, playing and watching football, forest walks, cooking, art and crafts. The limited ‘spare’ time I have, I enjoy going to the gym, spin classes, reading and socialising with friends.

I can be found in Reception, which is the best place to be, working with an amazing team of adults and children. Every child is an individual and I hope that in my role as a teacher I can make them realise anything is possible!
